If the timing belt fails, stop driving immediately and tow the vehicle to a repair shop for overhaul.
Abnormal noise, slippage. The belts in front of the engine include water pump and fan belts, generator belts, air conditioning compressor belts, power steering oil pump belts, etc. Belt slipping noise is a sharp, harsh "squeak" like a loud whistle, which often occurs when the engine is just starting, when accelerating, or when the air conditioner is turned on. Belt slippage may be caused by the belt tension being too small, or the belt may be worn out or even aged, causing the friction coefficient to drop. In order to determine that the abnormal sound of the engine is caused by belt slippage, sprinkle a little water on each belt after the engine is turned off, and then start the engine. If the abnormal noise decreases or disappears, it means that the abnormal noise just now is caused by the slippage of the belt. When the engine has an abnormal sound of belt slippage, check the tension of each belt first. The tension standard of each belt of different engines is not the same. Generally, when the thumb acts vertically on the middle of the belt between the two pulleys with a force of 5O-IOON, the deflection of the belt should be about 10mm. If the tension is too low, it should be adjusted. If the belt still has abnormal sound after adjustment, it means that the belt is aging, and the belt should be replaced.
The belt tensioner can be used to adjust the tightness of the timing belt, avoid belt slippage, compensate for belt wear and elongation caused by aging, and require a certain amount of twist resistance.
